Culture Meets Presence Documentary

"Culture Meets Presence” captures an 8-week journey of self-awareness and embodiment of mindfulness-based practices for a small, diverse group of Black women who want to improve mind-body awareness, decrease acute and chronic stress-related symptoms, and integrate mindfulness into daily living. Intentionally highlighting culturally relevant factors that impact the health and livelihood of Black women stemming from trauma associated with the intersectionality of race, gender, and systemic oppression.

This film explores cultural roots of mindfulness meditation within kemetic yoga, ancestral healing cultivated pre-Civil Rights Era, and is fused with interviews from prominent Black female psychologist, mental health clinicians and mindfulness teacher. Challenging group participants to video record weekly reflections of present-moment awareness through mindful eating, consumerism of Black-owned products, healing the “inner-critic”, and mindful self-compassion.

We’ve also established designated 501c3 fiscal sponsor, so all donations are tax deductible. Your contributions will go directly to pay for the out of pocket hard costs and screening fees.

From the Heart Productions, Inc. is honored to provide fiscal sponsorship for the film Culture Meets Presence. We carefully select the films we sponsor, and believe that this project will make a positive contribution to society and to the field of filmmaking.

We have been successfully funding films since our inception in 1993 under the 501(c )(3) Internal Revenue Code of 1954. We are also classified as a public charity under section 509(a )(2) of the Code. As such, any monetary donations to our Fiscal Sponsorship Program qualify as charitable contributions under the U.S. Tax Code.

Our IRS number is 95 444 5418 and, as a donor, you may use this number on your taxes with the donated amount for a tax deduction.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Depends on a few factors like if you received a reward in exchange for the donation and the value of your donation above that rewards cost, etc. You may contact the nonprofit you donated to directly to receive information on whether or not your donation is tax deductible. Nonetheless, the emailed receipts you will receive for your donation is the documentation you need to make it tax deductible.
